Oliver R. “Tom” Sandlin, age 95 of Sumiton, passed way Tuesday September 20, 2016 at Ridgeview Healthcare. He was a member of Sumiton First Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and Sumiton, Al where he served 32 years on the Sumiton City Council.
Funeral service will be Thursday September 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Charles Underwood will officiate. Burial will follow at McCormack Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Ingram.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Emogene Sandlin, children, David Sandlin (Teresa); Tim Sandlin (Luis); Karen Rhodes, sister, Bobbie Tucker, brother, Ishmael “Pink” Sandlin, grandchildren, Greg Sandlin (Jeannie); Brian Sandlin (Trisha); Allison Gower (Aaron); Amy Riley (John); Emily Kyzer (Brian), eight great grandchildren, and special friends, Phil Phillips; Bill “Buddy” Matthews.
