Funeral service for Olene Franks Wahlmeier, age 83, of Decatur, will be Friday, August 12, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Newman officiating. The family will receive friends today, Thursday, August 11, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Decatur City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wahlmeier, who died Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, was born July 25, 1933, in Moulton, AL, to Frank Cleveland Franks and Era Lizzie Steed Franks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert George Wahlmeier, one son, Ronald Hoyt Wahlmeier, and one daughter, Cheryl Wahlmeier Payne.
She is survived by two sons, Ken Wahlmeier of Glasgow, KY, and Troy Wahlmeier of Augusta, GA; one daughter, Linda Hughes of Lawton, OK; two brothers, Hoyt Franks of Ohio, and Troy Franks of Decatur; two sisters, Merle Lacey of Hartselle, and Ruby Truitt of Decatur; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
