Okalene “Okie” Gibson, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. Thomas Rutherford.
Okie was born on July 25, 1919 to Will C. Beckenbach and Nancy Ann Cummings Beckenbach in Maury County. Okie was married to Joseph Samuel Gibson in 1939. She was a wonderful person. Okie could make anything with her hands and could make anything grow. She and Joseph adopted their son Joey Gibson; he is forever thankful for them adopting him into the family.
The family will visit with friends on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Funeral services will immediately follow in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
Okie is survived by her son Joseph C. “Joey” (Sandra) Gibson; grandson Chase Gibson; and nieces Linda Barker and Judy Wolaver.
Okie was preceded in death by her brothers James N. “Jack” Beckenbach and William A. “Rat” Bechenbach; and sisters Eunice Bechenbach, Nellie Beckenbach Harris, Ruth Bechenbach Lindsey, Frances Beckenbach McAnally, and Ellen Bechenbach Davis.
Pallbearers will be John Wolaver, Tommy Wolaver, Johnny Gibson, and Harold Hinson.
