COLBERT COUNTY-Colbert County Sheriff Frank Williamson confirms an officer involved shooting on TVA reservation near the Muscle Shoals & Sheffield borders with TVA property. The shooting took place on Sunday afternoon, October 4.
Muscle Shoals Police and Sheffield Police both responded to calls of a person, who appeared to be threatening suicide with a gun. During the encounter, the person ran into the woods near the entrance to the TVA reservation. According to Sheriff Williamson the person lifted a gun toward officers. The officers then returned fire.
The suspect was shot and was taken to a hospital after the incident where he remains critical condition. No officers were injured.
