Officer Involved Shooting In Albertville Being Investigated By SBI

ALBERTVILLE-On Thursday, May 5 around 3:00PM officers from the Albertville Police were called to a domestic violence call backed up by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Albertville Police Chief J.T. Cartee gunfire was exchanged leaving one person dead.  the victim was identified as Larry Gene Chadwick, 68.

When police arrived at the scene on the domestic call involving a firearm they made contact with the victim at which time he retreated into the residence on Terry Circle. After trying to persude Chadwick to put down  the weapon a decision was made to use “deadly force”.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has taken over the investigation. A Statement From SBI:

“On Thursday, May 5, at the request of Albertville Police Department, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) began investigating an officer‐involved shooting involving officers with the Albertville Police Department and deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. Larry Chadwick, 68, was fatally injured. No officers were injured during the course of the incident.

Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing. Once complete, findings will be turned over to Marshall County District Attorney’s Office.”
