Odessa "Dessie" Brown Odessa “Dessie” Brown, 84, of Mentone, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020. She was born August 6, 1935 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Robert Eli Brown and Jessie Young Brown. She was owner and operator of Dessie’s Kountry Chef and voted one of the Most Recognized Ladies in Alabama. She attended Howard’s Chapel and was a member of MAPA and Mentone Ladies Club.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Don Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Fischer Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m.

She is survived by her son, David Cryer and wife, Janice; daughter, Sharon Yoder and husband, Ronnie; Daughter In law; Tena Cryer, brothers, Charles Edward Brown and wife, Carolyn, and Carl Brown and wife, Pat; grandchildren, David Glenn Cryer II, Danyale Kyles, and Alexandra Wooten; and great-grandson, Sawyer Curtis.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wayne Cryer, brother, Robert Eli Brown, and sister, Katherine Wright.
