DECATUR-The Decatur Police released A Statement on the murder of Saul Ocampo:
“On the night of January 26th, 2016 Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 408 6th Avenue Southwest in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived at the home and located the deceased body of Saul Ocampo, lying in the doorway of the residence. Detectives with the Decatur Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene to begin an investigation into Ocampo’s death. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Ocampo had been shot during a robbery by Christopher Andre Swoopes. Swoopes fled the scene and at the time his whereabouts were unknown.

On March 2nd, 2016 Christopher Swoopes turned himself in to the Decatur Police Department. Swoopes was booked into the Decatur City Jail and was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail with no bond.”
