O. Horton Laster – Obituary

O. Horton Laster, 81, of Huntsville passed away peacefully into eternity at his home on Thursday afternoon, March 7, 2019, surrounded by his family. He retired as Captain of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department after 26 years of dedicated service. He attended Brownsboro Baptist Church and cherished his church family there.  He will be remembered by his faithful love for the Lord, his family & friends, and the Crimson Tide.  He was gifted with a humble temperament, giving disposition, and witty personality.  Horton persevered in all he did.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 51 years- Martha Laster, parents- Walter and Georgia Laster, & sisters- Doris Butler and Diane Craig.

He is survived by his daughter and long-term caregiver- Melanie Laster Fisk and husband Rick; son- Jeff Laster and wife Beth; granddaughters- Ashlen Laster Garcia (Joseph) and Macy Laster; great grandson/apple of his eye- Kane Garcia, & extended family and numerous friends.

Visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Sunday, 3/10/19 from 12 to 2 in the afternoon with the funeral to follow at 2 PM.  Pastor Joseph Cooper to officiate.  Graveside service and interment to follow at First Flint River Church Cemetery.
