O.C. Landers – Obituary

OCO.C. Landers, 83, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., went to join his heavenly father Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Morrison Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Faith Church. He will lie in state 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Tommy James and the Rev. Tyler Logan will officiate.

Mr. Landers was a native of Mt. Hope, Ala. He worked for Ford Motor Co. in the piston department for 26 years before moving to Anderson News Co. where he was as a truck driver and security officer. He was a member of Faith Church as well as United Auto Workers Union Local 255. He was a Sunday school teacher for Florence Assembly of God, a Sunday school superintendent, deacon, and board member of Sheffield and Florence Assembly of God and an usher for Faith Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Landers; his father, Robert Landers; his brother, Elvis Landers; and sisters, Louise Brown and infant, Elsie Landers.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Landers; son, Timothy Olan Landers (wife, Tammy); daughters, Sandra Landers and Janet Landers Logan (husband, Doug); his twin brother, R.C. Landers; and grandchildren, Chris Daniel, Brian Denton, Justin Landers, Tyler Logan, Zachary Logan, and Jessica Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Kenneth Landers and Michael Landers, and grandsons, Chris Daniel, Justin Landers, Tyler Logan, and Zachary Logan.

Honorary pallbearer will be Keith Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “Children’s Ministry” at Faith Church, 3601 Florence Blvd., Florence, AL 35630.
