FLORENCE– Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) Patriots volleyball  opened the 2025 season Thursday night  (8/21) against Gadsden State Community College in CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall on the campus of the University of North Alabama (UNA) at 7:00 p.m.
“We are thrilled the season is finally here,” said NWSCC Executive Athletics Director Taylor Franks. “We are extremely grateful for UNA’s hospitality and letting us play our home games at Flowers Hall until our Phil Campbell campus construction is completed.”
The Patriots have not competed in women’s volleyball since fall of 2010. Coach Susie Tverberg was named the head coach in August of 2024. The 2025 Patriots feature players almost exclusively from Northwest Alabama.
According to Tverberg, that was very important to build the program back to where it was years ago. “Volleyball has a history of being very successful at Northwest Shoals,” said Tverberg. “Our region and state has tremendous athletes and we plan to make our community proud showcasing that local talent.”
The Patriots will be on the road playing eight matches before returning home to play Northeast Mississippi Community College at 7:00 p.m. on August 29th.
