MUSCLE SHOALS-Northwest-Shoals Community College’s (NW-SCC) Child Development Center will offer the 2023 Kids in College STEAM summer camp July 17-21, 2023. The summer camp is open to children entering grades first through seventh in the fall.
Each day participants will experience STEAM related activities in science, technology, engineering, art and math. According to NW-SCC Child Development Center Coordinator, Jacque Jefferys, all the camp activities will take place with an emphasis on STEAM in the Shoals area. “Our camp participants that are going into the fifth grade and older will experience building and programing a robot, as well as other STEAM related activities,” said Jefferys. “The younger participants will learn science, technology, engineering, art and math concepts through meaningful activities and experiences as it relates to the Shoals area.”
Healthy snacks will be provided daily. Children are to arrive promptly at 8:00 a.m. in the Patriot Center (gym) on the Shoals Campus. Each day’s events will conclude at 12 p.m. noon. Friday, July 21, will feature a Family Fair. State and local agencies along with businesses will share information with camp participants and their families.
Deadline for registration is July 10. Registration cost is $90 per child. Spaces are limited and early registration is encouraged.
