NW-SCC to celebrate 50th anniversary of Alabama’s first public junior college

MUSCLE SHOALS- Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC) will hold the first of two planned events to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Alabama’s first public junior college Sunday, September 22, 2013, in the Lou B. Bevill Center on the Phil Campbell campus.

 

The event will celebrate and honor individuals vital to the founding of the state’s first junior college in 1963 to the success of NW-SCC today.

The event will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at    NW-SCC Phil Campbell campus, Lou B. Bevill Center.  This event is free to the public and reservations are not needed.

At 2:00 p.m. Dr. Humphrey Lee, Northwest-Shoals Community College, President will welcome everyone.  Following Dr. Lee there will be special music by the NW-SCC Chorale directed by Jeff McAlister.  there will be an invocation by   Dr. Charles Britnell, Former Northwest Alabama Community College, President after which there will be recognition of our Legislators, past president and special guest by Dr. Humphrey Lee, Northwest-Shoals Community College, President and Jeff Newman, Alabama State Board of Education, District 7.

There will be a resolution presentation by Roger H. Bedford Jr., Alabama State Senate, District 6 and this will be followed by the keynote speaker  Dr. James A. Glasgow, Founding President of Northwest Alabama State Jr. College.  There will be a recognition of the first class and notable guest, by Dr. Glenda Colagross, NW-SCC Vice President.  Dr. Lee will deliver the closing remarks. Everyone is invited to celebrate 50 years of Northwest Shoals Community College.
