MUSCLE SHOALS — Northwest Shoals Community College’s (NWSCC) Adult Education Program will hold the 2026 Adult Education Graduation ceremony Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Patriot Center (Gym) on the Shoals Campus.
Nick Moore is the Adult Education State Director of the Alabama Community College System, where he aligns statewide adult learning with Alabama’s workforce and economic development priorities. Prior to this role, he was the Director of the Governor’s Office of Education and Workforce Transformation under Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.
A national leader in education and labor policy, Moore also served in the Trump Administration as Acting Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE), concurrently serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard Extension School and a Master of Public Policy from Cornell University.
According to the NWSCC Adult Education Program, 90 students have completed requirements for their Citizenship, GED or High School Diploma Option (HSDO) between July 2025 and June 2026.
The HSDO helps students who either dropped out of high school without earning the necessary credits to graduate or did not pass one or all parts of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (which is no longer administered).
