DECATUR-The Pryor Field Airport Authority is pleased to announce that the planning for the second North Alabama Airfest is currently taking off!

This highly anticipated airshow, that will bring thousands from far and near to Pryor Field Regional Airport (DCU), is expected to take place in late 2025 or early 2026. This family-friendly event was first held in June of 2023 with overwhelming support from the local communities as well as those from out-of-state.

“Pryor Field’s first-ever airshow was a huge success!” Airport Director Adam Fox explained, “We set out to provide a platform that would allow people to visit the airport to learn about the aviation/aerospace industry as well as get excited about the growth of this niche in North Alabama; we accomplished that goal.”

The Authority’s Chairwoman, Faith Hooper, stated, “I am thrilled to support the North Alabama Airfest at Pryor Field – an exciting weekend that will showcase our region’s vibrant aviation industry, inspire the next generation of aviators, and highlight the significant growth happening at Pryor Field.”

The North Alabama Airfest will feature world-renowned aerobatic performers, historic warbirds, and cutting-edge aircraft. Attendees can look forward to breathtaking stunts, precision flying, and an up-close look at a variety of military and civilian aircraft. The event will also include food vendors, merchandise tents, and a dedicated kids’ zone with educational activities to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.

The North Alabama Airfest is without a doubt one of the Tennessee Valley’s most thrilling, action-packed events. This airshow event is much more than just a weekend for thrill seekers or aviation enthusiasts. Large events such as the North Alabama Airfest bring thousands of people into North Alabama’s communities to enjoy all the things that make Alabama a great place to live, work, and play.

Local leaders such as the Danielle Gibson, President/CEO of Decatur Morgan County Tourism, were asked what this type of event means to them in regard to our local communities. Gibson stated, “The North Alabama Airfest at Pryor Field has a significant economic impact on our local communities, generating revenue through tourism, hospitality, and local business engagements. This event attracts visitors from near and far, boosting sales for hotels, restaurants, and retail establishments, while also promoting regional pride and visibility.”
