Norman Bradley Emerson, 66, entered into rest on Sept. 27, 2015, at Russellville Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Norman was born on June 10, 1949. He was a member of New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for 25 years where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Norman worked at Waverlee Homes for 15 years. He was a member of Hodges Fire Department for 38-and-a-half years and was fire chief for 35 years. Norman loved garden, hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time with family. He was known as “Booker” when he worked at WT Vick Lumber Company which was given to him by Hugh Don Marbutt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, from 5-9 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hackleburg where he will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, with service held at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Brother Ritchie Emerson, Brother James Nichols, Brother Marshall Emerson and Brother Tony Woods will officiate.
Norman is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carolyn Emerson; son, Jonathan Emerson and special friend, Deanna Newell; daughter, Christy Huffman and husband, Mark; brothers, Willie “Jack” (Edith) Emerson, Marshall (Earlene) Emerson and Ritchie (Carol) Emerson; and sisters, Gerthie Mutter, Marie (Larry) Upton, Judy Rudicell and Sandra (William) Huggins. He was “PawPaw Norman” to two grandchildren, Oliviah Huffman and Ava Huffman, and our special grandchildren, Jacob Davis, Bailey Davis, Mary Emerson and Sarah Emerson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Annie Mae Emerson.
