Norma Jean Hardeman Owen, 81, of Birmingham, AL formerly of Florence, passed away May 8, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Mrs. Owen was the spouse of Rev. Paul Owen, a United Methodist minister, for 64 years, and formerly Adult Services Librarian for the Homewood Public Library.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 4 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Park with Dr. Rick Owen and Rev. David Socha officiating.
Mrs. Owen is survived by her son, Dr. Rick Owen (Pat) of Birmingham; daughter, Lisa Socha (David) of Albertville, AL; grandchildren, Michael Owen (Jess) of Branchburg, NJ, Sarah Butler (Ryan) of Phenix City, AL, Brett Socha (Brittany) of Denver, CO, and Emily Socha of Albertville, AL; great-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Charlotte Owen of Branchburg, NJ; sister, Linda Moore (Glenn) of Florence; sister-in-law, Joan Bohannon of Florence; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Homewood Public Library-Friends of the Library.
