Nita Christy Robbins was welcomed into the arms of her Saviour on May 20 at her home surrounded by her family and immeasurable love. She was born on August 14, 1961, to Willis David and Velma Johnson Christy. She found her calling and caringly served others as a nurse for 44 years.
She was a devoted member of Hurricane Baptist Church, where she taught the teen girls Sunday School class for 28 years. She was a talented self-taught pianist and blessed many special occasions with her music; she could often be found behind a piano surrounded by children, laughter, warm memories.
She was known for her kind and loving nature. To many, she became far more than a friend—she was a second mother, a safe place, and a source of comfort and encouragement.
Above all else, “Nene’s” greatest pride and joy were her family. Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Phil Robbins; her twins, Hanna and Dr. Daniel Robbins; son, Phillip Robbins (Cortney); two grandchildren, Jack Robbins and Emma Robbins; two sisters, Janice Ecklein (Rick) and Kay Matkins (Billy).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her special mother, Geraldine Christy, a sister, Nancy Underwood, and three brothers: Bill Christy, David Christy, and Leonard Christy.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in every song remembered, every child she nurtured, every lesson she taught, and every heart she helped feel loved.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 P.M., Thursday, May 21, 2026, and on Friday from 12 noon to 2:00 P.M., followed by the celebration of her life well-lived at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 22, 2026, with Rev. Philip Brock and Rev. Philip Jackson officiating. All services will be at her home place, Hurricane Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Warren Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is honored to assist the Robbins family with their services.
