Mrs. McAlister passed away early in the morning Monday, February 26, 2024 at Cornerstone Health and Rehab in Corinth, MS. She had just celebrated her 76th birthday on February 21st. She was the ninth child of Robert Rutherford and Zona Moss Rutherford. Mrs. Nina spent her free time reading, listening to the radio, and loving on her pet cats. She never graduated from high school, but she was well educated. She had a solution for every problem, and even if she didn’t, she’d make you feel like she did. She was headstrong, stubborn, and fiercely independent. She was strong in her faith, and trusted His plan for her without worry. She was an incredibly strong woman, and we truly believe there will never be another like her. Nina leaves behind her granddaughter, Alyssa Mae McAlister; her brothers, L.C. Rutherford and James Rutherford; her sisters, Nona Mullins and Ray Pittman; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “J.B.” McAlister; her daughter, Martha Jane Loveless; her father, Robert Rutherford; her mother, Zona Moss Rutherford; her brothers, Olen Rutherford, Bobby Rutherford and Johnny Rutherford; her sister, Fay Dixon; her sisters-in-law, Ollie Rutherford, Irene Rutherford, Joyce Rutherford and Mary Rutherford and her brothers-in-law, Marlin Mullins, Bill Pittman and R.V. Dixon. Pallbearers will be her great nephews. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mrs. Nina McAlister.
