Mrs. Champion died on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born September 19, 1980, in Morgan County to Bobby Waugh and Rita Dobbs Waugh. She passed away after a 4 year long battle with breast cancer.
To know Nikki was, and is, to love her. She had a fierce spirit and a fire for life, both of which were contagious when you were around her. Nikki never gave up on anything her entire 44 years on this earth. She made the most of every single day, she stood tall when she was afraid, and she rallied behind her loved ones every time they needed her.
Nikki graduated from Brewer High School in 1999, many knew her as Nikki Waugh. She was president of the FFA and had an enormous friend group, most of which she kept in touch with. December 31, 1999, she met her husband, Daniel, at a New Years Eve Party and they were inseparable ever since. They married on July 30, 2004, and had two children Kasey and Harley.
Nikki spent most of her time at home being a great mother. She started working full-time at Cracker Barrel in Hartselle where she made a lasting impact on the Community. Some may also know her from her time working at Bobby’s in Eva, Alabama.
Preceding her in death were her devoted husband, Daniel Champion, of 23 years, her papaw, Howard “Dude” Dobbs and her beloved Granny, Jura Mae Dobbs (Winton) and her father passed away this morning,(May 7th) soon after she did.
Special Thanks are extended from the family to Clearview Cancer Institute, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Dr. Tony Weaver and his staff, and Dr. Naveen Lobo and his staff, for taking such wondeful care of Nikki.
