Nicholas Van Valkenburgh – Obituary

Lt. Col. Nicholas Van Valkenburgh, 74, of Huntsville, AL, passed away Wed. April 4th, 2018, due to a stroke.

     Nick is survived by his wife, Betty, 2 daughters: Diana Rivers (Chris) & Kim; 2 grandchildren: Meg & Jake Rivers & sister Sharon Aloisi (Pete).

     Nick served his country in the USAF for 21 yrs & is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He grew up in California, undergrad from UC Berkeley, Masters from Golden Gate Univ. He was married to his love, Betty, for almost 52 years. He was active at Grace UMC (Treasurer, committees, teacher…), Military Emeritus Docent at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, & volunteered at Madison Hospital & Huntsville Library. His hobbies included: woodworking, photography, stained glass and pen making. He loved the Lord, his family, friends and his country.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at Grace UMC from 12pm – 2pm ; Service 2pm -3pm. Interment will be at Maple Hills Cemetery.
