Nicholas J. Martelli was a U.S. Navy veteran and married to wife Eve for 44 years.
He is survived by sons,Nick Martelli, Rusty Martelli and Doug Martelli; grandchildren, Susanna Martelli, Nicholas Martelli, Russ Martelli and Antonio Martelli.
He was the son of Palmarino and Maria Labella Martelli; brother of the late John Martelli, the late Rose Sarto and Phyllis Zangri.
He worked in the bedding business and managed plants in Miami, Atanta, Dallas, San Bernadino, Philadelphia and East Brunswick, N.J.
He graduated from the school of Journalism at Boston University and covered many sporting events, including the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins.
Mr. M was an avid walker and an accomplished whistler. He also enjoyed watching the Deshler Tigers play football and would get in his car and travel from Philly to Tuscumbia to watch a playoff game. He also loved the UNA Lions and even during his last days wanted to know how football recruiting was progressing.
Coaching kids also was a joy for Mr. M and he spent many summers on the diamond with them. But his ultimate enjoyment were his grandkids and grandpa was always there for them and they all have a special place in their heart for him.
