Nettie Mae White Profile Photo Nettie Mae White was born November 4, 1922 in Alcorn County, MS the daughter of the late George C. Mullins and Dessie L. [Dixon] Mullins.

She was united in marriage to William Tolbert White on September 20, 1941 and celebrated 78 years of marriage.

Mrs. White worked for Sears, Denaux Interior Designs, and as a licensed cosmetologist until her late 80’s. In the early 1990’s she attended Southwest Community College and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Business, and remained self-employed most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, sewing, spending time with her family and traveling to attend various Primitive Baptist Church services, across the country with her husband. She and her late husband attended Raleigh Primitive Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.

Mrs. White departed this life February 16, 2023 in Memphis, TN at the age of 100. She is survived by her two children, son Ralph White of Germantown, TN and daughter Myra Kane of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hughes of Canton, MS and Lauren Kane of Memphis, TN; three great-grandchildren; Ayden, Ava and Waye Hughes of Canton, MS; two sisters; Juanita Mullins Johnson, Elizabeth Mullins Durbin and a brother Arnold Wayne Mullins, and many more extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, William Tolbert White, two sisters, Helen Mabry, Tish Farris, and 4 brothers, Hilburn Mullins, Ronald Mullins, Donald Mullins, and James Willard Mullins.

The family wishes to thank Avalon Hospice and the Gardens of Germantown staff, who cared for Mrs. White.
