Funeral service for Nellie Virginia Anderson Owens, age 93, of Petersburg, TN will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 10, 20241 at Higgins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Medium Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 12pm to 2pm on Friday at Higgins.
Mrs. Owens was born July 10, 1930, in King William County, VA to the late William Andrew and Virginia Ruth Chenault Anderson. She was a fastidious homemaker, always with a cloth in her hand cleaning something, and she loved caring for her family. Nellie’s faith was important to her, and she attended Medium United Methodist church for many years where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a volunteer at Lincoln Medical Center, a member of the Sunshine Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star. Nellie always greeted you with a smile, she had a terrific sense of humor, and she was loving and caring towards others. She passed away May 6, 2024, at Lincoln Manor Assisted Living in Fayetteville.
Survivors include her children, Karen (Eddie) Batt, Gary (Kay) Owens, Terry Owens, Curtis (Mark) Owens, Richard (Trish) Owens; grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Gretchen, Abigail, Valarie, Chelsea, and Ethan; 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Carolyn) Anderson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Edison Owens; and brothers, Thomas Anderson, and Burt Anderson.
