Nellie P. Montgomery, age 95, went home to be with her Lord, on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016.
Mrs. Montgomery was a steadfast Christian lady, who was always very humble, happy, and never complaining. She attended church at Fourth Street Church of Christ in Tuscumbia. She taught for many years at Little Red Hen Kindergarten and later Little Chick Pre-K School. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that lived her life by her values, being the most unselfish person, caring for others, and setting a high example for all of her family. She enjoyed her retirement years working in the Volunteer Service at Helen Keller Hospital.
The visitation will be 1-3 p.m. today at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, with the funeral following at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Jeff Abrams officiating. Burial will be at Tharptown Cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Donny Montgomery, Bob Montgomery (wife, Melanie); grandchildren, Michael Montgomery (wife, Meg), Doug Montgomery (wife, Whitney), Dan Montgomery (wife, Tracy), Ben Montgomery (wife, Tammi), Dustin Montgomery, Amy Bishop (husband, Britt), Amber Montoya, Kirby Montgomery, Katie Oakley (husband, Kyle); 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Montgomery; sons, Mack A. Montgomery, Jim E. Montgomery (wife, Anne); grandson, Gregory D. Montgomery; and parents, Arthur Lee & Mandy Britnell.
The pallbearers will be Michael Montgomery, Doug Montgomery, Dan Montgomery, Ben Montgomery, Britt Bishop, Jackie Taylor, Jim Greenhill, and Wyatt Glover.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Southern Magnolia Assisted Living in Iuka, MS, as well as to Dr. Glenn and Gentiva Hospice for the love and care of our family.
