Nellie Christine BrooksThe Morgan City community lost a beloved friend and faithful servant when Ms. Nellie Christine Boles Brooks, age 94, went home to be with her Lord on Monday morning, May 18, 2026. Born May 30, 1931, to Walter Herbert Boles and Myrtle Magnolia Weeks Boles, Nellie grew up as the eighth of ten children in a home filled with love, hard work, and deep faith.

At just sixteen, she married her sweetheart, Harold Clinton Brooks, Sr., on April 3, 1948. Their love story spanned decades and built a family rooted in devotion, laughter, and unwavering support. Together they raised three children and created a home where everyone felt welcome.

Nellie was a founding member of Highland Baptist Church, a place she cherished dearly. Psalm 23 was her lifelong anchor, and she lived each day with gratitude for God’s goodness. She loved reading her Bible, working puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with the people she loved most. Her gentle spirit and joyful heart touched everyone she met. More than anything, she wanted others to “know her Jesus.”

She leaves behind her son, Franklin Herbert Brooks; her daughter, Darleen Brooks Hill (Ron); grandchildren Jonathan Lee Brooks (Tara), Kerry Lynn Brooks (Kristy), and Brett Alan Hill (Lorie); great grandchildren Autumn (DK), Maddie, Justin, Krymson, Adam (Jasmine), Danielle (William), Jacob, Caleb, and Anna; and three great great grandchildren.

She is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Harold; her son, Harold Jr.; daughter in law, Linda Jo; great grandson, Chance Tye; her parents; and her nine siblings.

A celebration of Nellie’s life will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. Visitation begins at 12:00 noon, with the service following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Steve Hogg, Craig Wright, Ronnie Jennings, Steven Borden, Austin Borden, David Wright, and James Rayburn Thomas. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
