Nell Thompson Simmons of Waynesboro was born October 22, 1925 in Collinwood, TN the daughter of the late Jim and Sarah Daniel Thompson. Mrs. Simmons died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro at the age of 89 Years, 27 Days. She was married to Doil W. Simmons August 2, 1946 and he preceded her in death December 28, 2013. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by son, Dennis Simmons. She was a homemaker and was retired from Genesco.
She is survived by a son, Larry Simmons of Waynesboro, TN, a daughter, Linda Rochell and husband Gary of Collinwood, TN, five grandchildren, Tommy Simmons, Missy Smith, Katrena Rochell, Barry Rochell, and Shane Simmons, three great grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Blase Smith, and Alex Simmons. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Susie, 2 special children, Levi and Kyndle Rochell, and a special friend, Jenny Franks.
A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro with Chad Balentine officiating. Interment will follow services with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
