Neil Watkins, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on November 30, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on July 3, 1942, Neil lived a full and rich life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Neil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; his sister, Mary Ann Watkins-Dodd; his three children, Courtney Watkins, Tracee Watkins, and Brian Watkins; and his five grandchildren, Gabby Watkins, Ben Watkins, Christian Watkins, Ericha Neilee, Ogle, and Ichan Mahendra. He was a devoted father and grandfather, whose life was defined by his deep affection for his family. His support for his children and grandchildren was unwavering, and he took great joy in watching them grow and flourish.

In August 1966, Neil married the love of his life, Elizabeth, and together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and love. Neil’s marriage to Elizabeth was a cornerstone of his life, and they shared more than five decades of happiness and companionship.

Neil was passionate about many things, but his love for golf and the mountains of North Georgia held a special place in his heart. He could often be found on the greens, enjoying a round of golf, or exploring the beautiful North Georgia mountains with Elizabeth, his family, and friends. The outdoors brought him peace and joy, and his connection to the natural beauty of the area was one of the many things that made him so special.

Known for his sense of humor and quick wit, Neil had a way of making everyone around him feel at ease. He was generous with his time and advice, always ready to lend a hand or share a story. His presence in any room was comforting, and his family and friends will forever cherish his warmth and guidance.

Neil’s life was a testament to the importance of family, the joy of simple pleasures, and the beauty of nature. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Welch’s Funeral Home in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation begins at 12:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity in Neil’s honor www.habitat.org/support/honor-memorial-gifts.

Neil Watkins will forever be remembered for his love, kindness, and the impact he had on the lives of all who knew him.
