Neal Presley Conner Neal Presley Conner 73, attorney at law passed away Friday July 3, 2020 at Huntsville Hospital.  Mr. Conner was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 9, 1946 to Robert E. Conner Sr. and Fay Presley Conner.  He graduated from Decatur High School in 1965 and attended the University of Alabama and received a Doctor of Juris Prudence degree from Jones School of Law.

While in Decatur High School he played football for coach Shorty Ogle (a member of Shorty’s boys).  He was involved in the student council and other student government activities.  He was a member of the Alabama Bar Association and practiced law in Montgomery where he was assistant attorney general for the Alabama Department of Public Safety, also he practiced law in Guntersville and Decatur for over 30 years.  He worked in the office of Morgan County District Attorney and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  Neal grew up as a member of Central Baptist Church and at the time of his death was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur where he was very involved with the choir ministry.

Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his parents Robert E. Conner and Fay Presley Conner, his older brother Robert E. Conner, Jr. and a nephew Mark Allen Conner.  He is survived by a daughter, Melissa De La Garza of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Clark Elyard Conner of Florence, Alabama and Wesley Hancock Conner (Rose) of Harvest, Alabama; grandchildren, Makaela Stewart (Mack) and Makenzie De La Garza, a sister, Nancy Conner Julich (Marvin), nephews, Robert E. Conner III, Steve Presley Conner (Susan), Lance Wesley Conner (Teresa), Marvin M. Julich (Angie); niece Rebecca Julich Patterson and several great nieces and nephews and his special friend Joyce Skains of San Antonio, Texas.  The family of Neal Presley Conner would like to invite you to his Celebration of Life on July 10th at First United Methodist Church Decatur.  Visitation will be at 10am with the service beginning at 11am.  We look forward to seeing you there..  The family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to First United Methodist Church Music Ministry or a charity of your choice in his honor.  Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
