William Neal PlunkettMr. Neal Plunkett, 87, of Huntsville died Friday, January 22, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital after having struggled with poor health the last few years. Through it all Neal persevered, retaining his keen mental capacity, wit, sense of humor and kind heart. No one could make us laugh like Neal could.

Neal leaves his beloved wife of 63 years, Mrs. Nancy Garner Plunkett.

William Neal Plunkett was born July 28, 1933 in Arab, AL to Arlie and Ima Plunkett who preceded him in death. Neal grew up in Arab and graduated from Arab High School in 1951 as valedictorian and had a long career as an U.S. Army civilian employee. After retiring from the Army Missile Command (MICOM) at Redstone Arsenal as a procurement specialist, Neal enjoyed the company of his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Neal was an exceptionally loyal, dependable, and generous man who greatly loved his family and friends. Despite his physical difficulties he was still able to take great care of Nancy. He believed that Jesus is the Son of God and accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. Nancy and Neal made Mount Zion Baptist their church home, serving as faithful members for over 60 years.

Neal is survived by wife Nancy of Monrovia; brother Bobby Plunkett (Jane) of Arab; nieces Kim Holder (Bill) and Stephanie Woods (Leigh), nephews Jason Plunkett (Jeanna); Steve Garner, and Greg Garner (Tonja); sisters-in-law Sue C. Garner of Monrovia and Sue T. Garner of Decatur; numerous great nieces and great nephews; one great-great niece and one great-great nephew.
