Funeral Services for Mrs. Naomi Roughton, age 88 of Cragford, were held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Mellow Valley Baptist Church with Bro. Chuck Pots and Bro. Randy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Roughton passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a lifelong resident on Ashland and Mellow Valley and spent most of her life as a Homemaker and Seamstress with Higgins Slacks and Russell Mills. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing all types of clothing for her children and friends. She also loved crocheting, gardening, and keeping up her flower beds. Mrs. Roughton was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a devout Christian, and was a two time cancer survivor.

Mrs. Roughton is survived by three daughters: Brenda Gortney of Mellow Valley, Wanda Melton of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Janet Waldrop (David) of Wedowee; seven grandchildren: Teresa Watts (Dale), April Flowers (Wesley), Julian Gortney (Crystal), Brooke Strickland, Erica Strickland, Ashley McVey, and Dusty McVey; 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great Grandchildren; three sisters: Alice Raughton of Leeds, and Denola Williams and Avie Mae Lightsey, both of Boaz; two brothers: Howard Williams (Patricia) of Boaz and Austin Williams (Audrey) of Albertville; and a large extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sanford Thomas Williams and Emma Darthula Smith Williams; her husband, Gordon Roughton; two brothers, Obe and Horance Williams; and two sisters, Inez Bolton and Anna Lee Lumpkin.

Pallbearers will be Julian Gortney, Ashley McVey, Dusty McVey, J.D. Gortney, Dawson Flowers, and Devon Strickland.
