Graveside Services for Mrs. Nancy Stewart Hunter, age 75 of Ashland, will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Ashland City Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Brand officiating.

Mrs. Hunter passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Mrs. Hunter was born in Murphyboro, Illinois, married her late Husband Tom in California, and eventually settled in Clay County in 1969. She worked for 25 years as a seamstress at Russell Mills Manufacturing. Mrs. Hunter enjoyed making quilts, spending time with her grandchildren, and going to the Oxford Performing Arts Center with her friend Vickie. She also enjoyed attending Springhill Baptist Church, where she was a member. She was described as honest and a little loud, but was kind, caring, and always willing to help others.

Mrs. Hunter is survived by two sons: Robert James “Bobby” Hunter (Tonya) of Forsyth, MO and Billy Joe Hunter of Hollister, MO; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Stewart of Arkansas and Mike Stewart (Edna) of Missouri, plus other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Marvin and Margaret Kirk Stewart; her husband, Tom Hunter; granddaughter-in-law, Abby Hunter; great-granddaughter, Lucy Hunter; one sister, Barbara Stewart;

Justin Wayne Branch, Brandon Hunter, Eli Johnson, and Brittany Hunter will serve as pallbearers.

Her visitation will be Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 1:00 until 1:30 P.M.
