Nancy P. Long Lovell, 78, of Athens, passed away on Friday, September 5th, 2025. Mrs. Lovell was born on September 2nd, 1947, to Clyde and Maggie (Green) Long.
Mrs. Lovell is survived by her son, Tony Lovell (Dana); daughter, Tracey Cox (Jeff); sister, Helen Joye King; brother, Jerry Long (Annette); grandchildren, Keri Scogin (Grant), Morgan Taylor, Jon Lovell (Sofia), and Krysti Ferguson (Michael); and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lovell; brothers, Gus Long, Charles Long, Grady Long; sister, Shelley Jean Long; and great-granddaughter, Kira Stanley.
The funeral service will be Sunday, September 7th, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., at Sardis Springs Baptist Church, with Jeff Oates, Jack Bailey, and Tony Lovell officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at the church. Pallbearers will be Tony Lovell, Darrell Long, Jon Lovell, Roger Montgomery, Jeff Cox, Harold Woodfin, Jimmy Clark, and Todd Crouch. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Newby, Paul Greer, Kenneth Patterson, and Randy Clem. Burial will be at Sardis Springs Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Lovell was reborn at the age of twelve during a revival when Bro. John Crawford was her pastor. She was married to Billy Lovell in 1966, by Bro. Calvin Inman. Later they created a family with the birth of their son, Tony, and daughter, Tracey.
