Florence native Nancy Killen Morris, 91, passed away in the presence of her family on 12/19/2021.  Greenview Funeral Home provided a graveside service for family on Monday, 12/20/2021.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, H.W. and Ollie Killen, by her brother Charles Killen, her sister Betty Killen Rhodes, and her husband of 25 years, William Harold Morris.  She is survived by her three children, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.  Nancy’s paternal grandfather, Sharp Killen, was the founder of Killen, Alabama.

Nancy lived a happy and busy life.  She was a charter member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ.  Many of her life activities revolved around her church work, including helping Mars Hill Bible School, being an active associate with Heritage Christian University and actively participating in a jail ministry through Heritage Christian.

Crocheting was Nancy’s favorite hobby, and she was an expert.  She earnestly enjoyed the Senior Citizens “Club” activities in Florence, competitively playing Rook, dominoes and checkers.  Nancy won, for her age group, several state competitions in the Alabama state senior games.

After retiring from TVA, Nancy was active with the BVI volunteers association, supporting the garden seeds program and personally training children about water safety in many local elementary schools.  Nancy’s volunteer work included delivering “Meals on Wheels” locally until her 89th birthday.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, any donation in Nancy’s name go to Jackson Heights Church of Christ (1031 Hermitage Dr, Florence, AL 35630) or to Heritage Christian University (3625 Helton Dr, Florence, AL 35630), both dear to Nancy’s heart.

The family extends heart-felt gratitude to the many people who supported Nancy in the last months of her life including the wonderful staff at Keestone of Florence, the staff of Hospice of North Alabama, Dr. Danny McFall and staff, members of Jackson Heights Church of Christ, and many other dear friends, neighbors and family.
