Nancy Jean Barry Jordan, age 91, of Sheffield, died Thursday, June 26, 2014.
Her family will receive friends Saturday, 1-2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Sheffield. Her funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Bill Bedsole officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield where she sang in the choir for a number of years and was very active in her Sunday school class (Wesleyan Fellowship Class). She volunteered with Meals on Wheels through the Faith in Action program at her church. Nancy organized a volunteer visitation program at Oak Crest Nursing Home, now known as Keller Landing, where they had weekly visitation and monthly birthday parties.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nell Frances Barnwell.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Glendal Clive Jordan; son, Steven Harris Jordan (Linda), of Pelham, Alabama; daughter, Judith Nan Murphy (Jim), of Cherokee; three grandchildren, Matthew Jordan (Carmen), of Auburn, Alabama, Bryan Jordan (Paige), of Hoover, Alabama, and Jenny Black (Jerit), of Alabaster, Alabama; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Matthew Jordan, Bryan Jordan, Jerit Black, Tom Morrow, Bill Jenkins, and Cecil Sparks.
The family expresses special thanks to Jeri, Gleria, Becki, and Annette for their loving care and to the nurses of Gentiva Hospice for their support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Sheffield or Gentiva Hospice.
