Nancy Jane Manley Dishroon, 84, of Huntsville, AL passed away in her home on Friday, January 21, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born to Pleas and Genevieve Manley, July 22, 1937 in Bristol, VA and spent most of her childhood in east Tennessee, with a brief move to Decatur, AL. Nancy graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Elementary Education in 1958. She was a lifelong Vols fan, especially enjoying basketball and football. She was also an avid reader and talented seamstress, and she loved children.
Nancy was a devoted member of The Body of Christ Church, formerly Hillsboro Heights, where she served faithfully for close to 60 years. She especially enjoyed teaching children and her work with the WMU and Music Ministry. Through the years she always found a way to use her love of teaching. She taught elementary, preschool, Sunday School, Missions, Choir, and even taught ELL and tutored adults.
Nancy married the late Benny Hayes Dishroon in 1958. They lived in Knoxville, TN and Warner Robins, GA before settling in Huntsville in 1963.
She is survived by her brother, Don Manley (Jerry) of Knoxville, TN and her 4 daughters: Cindy Adams (Kenny), Amy McDonald (Mat), Susan Marenka (Stephen) and Sharon Callahan (Hugh) all of Madison County, AL. She is also survived by her grand and great grandchildren: Brian Adams, Greg Adams (Anna, Marshall and Bradley), John Adams, Genna McDonald (Braeden and Marlana), Mitchell McDonald (Mackenzie, Rawlings and Harlow), Grace Marenka, Michael Marenka, Jack Bulman and Sam Bulman, all of Madison County, AL and Kristen Callahan and Katie Callahan of California. She also had a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Benny, her parents, her brother and sister in law, Ronnie and Pennie Manley and her son in law, Shawn Bulman.
Visitation will be held at The Body of Christ Church, 3614 Drake Avenue, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 12:30 until 2:00, with the funeral following at 2:00pm. Graveside will be at the Twickenham East Memory Gardens in Hampton Cove, following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Body of Christ Church.
