Nancy Hallmark Hastings, 71, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, Ala. She was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Belmont, Miss. Nancy was a very caring person and was very compassionate as a certified nurses aide working in home health for 25 years. She was a member of Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church with Brother Steve Lindsay, Brother Jerry Ginn and Tyler Hastings officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are her husband of 51 years, Don Hastings, Red Bay, Ala.; five children, Donnie Hastings Jr. (Valarie), Red Bay, Ala., Mark Hastings (Laura), Oakman, Ala., Joe Hastings (Christy Hellums), Ridgeland, Miss., JoAnna Allred (Scotty), Tupelo, Miss., and Samantha Wadsworth (Eric), Hoover, Ala.; and seven grandchildren, Kevin, Hannah Grace, Alexia, Tyler, Hall, Danielle and Ethan; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustus Jesse Hallmark and Eva Moore Hallmark; one brother, Jesse Moore Hallmark (Linda); one sister, Betty Chandler; and a brother-in-law, Bill Chase.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Nelson, Bill Nabers, James Marbutt, Eddie Prestage, Kelly Hester, Carroll Ivy and Scotty Skinner.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., and she will lie in state noon-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church.
