Gene Freeman, 85, of Tuscumbia, passed away Oct. 27, 2013.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 11-1 p.m., at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Reverend Barrett Long is officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Gray Freeman.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Anne) Freeman, of Muscle Shoals, and Jason (Christy) Freeman, of Tuscumbia;
daughter, Donna (James) Chumley, of Powder Springs, Ga.;
sister, Patsy King, of Russellville;
nine grandchildren, Jason Freeman (Rosie), Rebecca Jangaard (Will),
MaryCalvert Freeman, Dawson Freeman, Austin Chumley, Evan Chumley, Rachel Chapman (Chris), Katie Hornsby (Todd) and Andrea Martin; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Will Jangaard, Jason Freeman, Austin Chumley, Evan Chumley, Todd Hornsby and Don Freeman.
Mr. Freeman served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia and the owner of Freeman’s Grocery for many years in Tuscumbia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia.
Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
