Nancy Gillis Edwards of Waynesboro was born June 15, 1917 in Waynesboro, TN the daughter of the late Ira Haywood and Maude Catherine Johnson Gillis. Mrs. Edwards died on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro at the age of 98 Years, 5 Months, 22 Days. Mrs. Edwards, a homemaker, was married to Harold Edwards August 30, 1947 and he preceded her in death May 4, 1999. She was of the Baptist faith and attended First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro and was a member of Rural Carriers Auxillary.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Galbraith and husband John and Carole Crews and husband Danny all of Waynesboro, TN, five grandchildren, Valerie Hall Glass and husband Sterling, Patrick Hall, John Galbraith, Jr. and wife Nico, Katie Crews, and Kristen Crews, four great grandchildren, Jake and Luke Glass, Vivianna and Catalina Galbraith. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by brothers, Homer, Don,
Dan,Sam, James, John, and Hugh Gillis, and a sister, Anna Gillis.
Services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Kevin Marston officiating. Burial will follow in Waynesboro Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6:00-9:00 PM and Thursday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to The Butterfly Foundation or First United Methodist Church.
