Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy C. Smith, 83, of Ashland will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Pastor Noel Vickers and Pastor David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith passed away Thursday at her home in Ashland. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. She worked at Russell Mills but was a home maker most of her life. Sewing, cooking and gardening flowers were things she enjoyed at home as well as working different puzzle games. Mrs. Smith loved the Lord and was a member of New Prospect Baptist and spent many years at Clay County Holiness Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Raiford Smith; two sons, Lynn Smith (Angelica) and Harry Casey (Melissa); grandchildren, Eric Smith, Lana Stephens, Amanda Casey, Chasity Casey, Colton Casey, Christine Goodson, Nathan Smith, Nichole Smith and Nicholas Miller and numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and several extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; WJ and Cora Lee Casey; son, Randy Casey; daughter, Gail Thomas; and brother, Jimmy Casey and his wife Mildred.
Pallbearers will be Eric Smith, Nathan Smith, Nicholas Miller, Colton Casey, Todd Stephens and Sawyer Stephens.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland, Saturday from 2:30 P.M. until service time at 4:00 P.M.
