Mrs. Nancy Blackwell Gordon, 72, of Rome, Ga., died at her residence Wednesday morning July 31, 2013, after a long illness.
Mrs. Gordon was born in Decatur on March 14, 1941, daughter of the late Gilbert Allen Blackwell and Sadie Lou Shields Blackwell. She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Mrs. Gordon served as a past member of the Rome Junior Service League, Rome Green Thumb Garden Club and was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert Blackwell and Carl Blackwell; four sisters, Dot Tubb, Faye McClendon, Gin Cunningham and Annette Blackwell.
She is survived by one son, Jennings Bailey Gordon and wife, Cynthia Ware Gordon of Rome; one daughter, Amanda Gordon Medlock and husband, Alan Medlock of Asheville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jessica, Kristen and Jackson.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
