Nan (Nancy) Elliott Connell Nan (Nancy) Elliott Connell, 87, died on May 28, 2021, at Regency Retirement Village in Huntsville. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 3, 1933, to Virginia Pegues Elliott and Edgar Elliott, Jr. and was graduated from Ramsey High School in 1951. Nan then attended Auburn University receiving her baccalaureate degree in social sciences in 1955. While at Auburn she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.

Prior to her marriage to William (Bill) Connell she was employed by the Alabama Department of Human Resources in Birmingham, Jefferson County, as a social worker. Upon her marriage in 1956 the couple lived in Gadsden where her social services were then performed in Etowah County. The couple returned to Auburn in 1957 where she served on the staff of the University in the Registrar’s Office. Her effort supplemented her husbands G.I. Bill during his post-graduate work. In 1959, upon her husband’s graduation, they moved to Mobile where she taught elementary classes at Mary B. Austin School in Spring Hill, a suburb of Mobile. In 1961 they relocated to Huntsville where they lived to the present time. Nan was a very devout member of the United Methodist Church during her life. She attended Trinity, Aldersgate, and Latham churches at various times during the years she lived in Huntsville. At Aldersgate she taught Adult Sunday School for many years while serving on a number of advisory committees.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Margaret Johnston Elliott. She is survived by her husband, and her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Connell Green and Damon Green, and her grandson, Christopher William Parsekian of New York, and many friends.

A memorial service is contemplated in the near future.
