Mrs. Nada Ann Light Hornsbuckle, age 77, of the Ruth Community of Arab, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Crestwood Medical Center.
Mrs. Hornbuckle was born on December 26, 1940 to Plumer Franklin Light & Fay Nell Casey Light in Marshall County. Her late husband was Mr. Homer P. “Sonny” Hornbuckle, Jr. who passed away on April 7, 2016. Mrs. Hornbuckle was the secretary at Ruth Baptist Church and the Arab Historical Society, was part of the volunteer auxiliary ladies at Arab Hospital and Marshall Medical Center North, honored by the Alabama Hospital Association outstanding auxiliary & served as a Girl Scout Troop leader.
She was a member of Ruth Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hornbuckle was survived by her daughters & son-in-laws, Carol Hornbuckle, Kim Childs & Stephen, Cindy Self & Shane; grandchildren, Samantha Chandler & David, Tracey Childs, Wyatt Self, Dakota Abernathy. Preceded in death by her parents, Plumer Franklin Light & Fay Nell Casey Light; husband, Homer P. “Sonny” Hornbuckle, Jr.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday December 6, 2018 at Ruth Baptist Church with Bro. Kenneth Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Oak – Ruth Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing. A lie-in-state will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Wyatt Self, David Chandler, Dakota Abernathy, Larry Vaughn, Tee Rice & Jimmy Tinley; Honorary Pallbearer, Sonny Briscoe.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
