Myrtle Ruth Wright Mayo, age 80, of Butler, Alabama passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Ms. Mayo was born May 6, 1945, in Gadsden, AL, to Homer J. Wright and Ada Grace Lancaster Wright. She passed away August 28, 2025, at her residence in Butler, AL.
She is survived by her sons, Joel Mayo (Christine) of Loudon, TN, Darron Mayo (Cyndi) of Chicago, IL, Jeffrey Mayo (April) of Adair, GA; daughter, Janet Wood of Butler, AL; two brothers; five sisters; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. E. Joe Mayo; son, Kelvin Joe Mayo; father, Homer J. Wright; mother, Ada Grace Lancaster Wright; four brothers; and two sisters.
Per her family: Mother said ” In lieu of flowers, take that money and help someone.”
A visitation for Myrtle will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in the Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.
