Myrtle Evans Shugart, 74, of Fort Payne, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2026. She was born in Stevenson, Alabama on May 4, 1952, to the late James Solomon Evans and Estill Gossett Evans. She was a member of the Master Gardner’s Club and enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers. She was a beloved Gigi to her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Friday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until the 12 noon hour of service.
She is survived by her husband Bill Shugart; children Cody Davis (Cathy), Lizzie Peagram, and Devin Davis (Kera); step-sons Billy Shugart and Chad Shugart; sisters Brenda Bealer, Freda Shavers, and Norma Evans; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Rayford Evans and sisters Sandy Evans, Eva Roberts, and Sybil Evans.
