Funeral services for Ms. Myrle L. “Granny” Neel, age 85 of Lineville, will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Rev. Billy Todd and Rev. Robert Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
Ms. Neel passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the Shelby Medical Center. She was born in Florida, but has lived many years in Clay County. She lovingly was called, by those that knew her, as “Granny” or “Ms. Myrle” She loved her job as a homemaker, caring for family. She was a great cook and enjoyed sharing her food. She spent her spare time doing embroidery and completing work search books. Her joy came from reading her Bible.
Ms. Neel is survived by 2 daughters, Susie Barrett of Lineville and Leslie Glasgow (Tommy) of Randolph Co.; one son, Carlton L. Neel (Sandy) of Talladega; 6 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Broward and Myrtle Newsome Davis; her husband, Carlton Lester Neel; and one daughter, Glynis Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
Her visitation will take place on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
