Myrl Wilemon Brown – Obituary

Myrl Wilemon Brown, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home in Iuka. Mrs. Brown attended and was an ordained minister in the Methodist Church. She graduated from New Site High School and East Mississippi Junior College. She began teaching at Lena High School near Jackson, then at East Prentiss School before continuing her education at Scarritt College where she received her Master’s Degree. Mrs. Brown, with her husband, worked as missionaries in farm communities in Texas, ministered in several churches in Michigan and Indiana, then moved to Rome, Georgia, where Myrl taught at Berry College. Later she accepted a position at Western Carolina University in Collowhee, North Carolina. Mrs. Brown was born in Paden, Mississippi. Visitation is scheduled for 9:00 am until service time on Saturday, July 27. A memorial service will be held at 11 am at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Jon Kaufman. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Aubrey L. Brown of Iuka; one son, Paul Brown ( Deborah) of Mount Airy, GA; two brothers, Euel Wilemon (Wanda) of New Site, MS and J. P. Wilemon, Jr. (Bobbie) of Belmont, MS; one sister, Shirley Ramsey of Fulton, MS; one granddaughter, Jessica Furst (John) of Asheville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
