Myra J. Hodge Basden, age 84 of Tuscumbia, died Thursday, November 29, 2012.
Her family will receive friends Saturday 6-9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Sunday, 2 p.m. at Cox Boulevard Church of Christ with Larry Kilpatrick and Terry Jones officiating. Her body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. to lie in state. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Basden was a member of Cox Boulevard Church of Christ and the Helen Keller Garden Club. She was a phenomenal seamstress, spectacular cook; had not one but two green thumbs, a sparkling personality, unforgettable laugh, loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. She was a “Virtuous Woman,” Proverbs 31.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pearl Henry Jones; brothers, Lawrence, Wilbur and Paul Jones; sisters, Valera Quinn and Maybelline McCaig and father of her children, Gresham Hodge.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard “Tynt” Basden; sons, Donald Hodge and Rayford Basden (Schicko); daughters, Charleen Cox (John), Gail Seale (Eamonn Walsh), Kathy Williams (Mike); step-daughters, Mona Melton, Fran Young and Rhonda McFarland; brother, Dwight Jones (Gail); grandchildren, Leisa Cox, Angela Holschuh (Rob), Douglas Cox, Kathy Pounders (Richard), Deedra Moore (Barry), Kendall Seale (Shonda), Chris Williams (Tiffany), Melissa Hodge (Jackie), Adam Hodge and Amy Williams; step-grandsons, Barry Basden (Katie) and Brett Basden (Katie) and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Chris Williams, Kendall Seale, Adam Hodge, Barry Moore, Richard Pounders, Jackie Flowers, Bryan Gregg and Aaron Gregg.
