Myo Sun HanMyo Sun Han, 85, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 8, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Chin Su Gibson.  Visitation will be held Monday, December 10th from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home, 2305 Memorial Parkway NW, Huntsville, AL, followed by a Christian funeral at 5:00 with Rev. Ik Jae Jin officiating.  Cremation will occur after the ceremony.

Myo was born March 1, 1933 in Seoul, South Korea.  She married in 1951, but her first husband was killed in the Korean War in 1952.  She remarried in 1953 to Chon B. Han, whose first wife was also killed in the Korean War, and left him with a young son to raise.  Times were very difficult for the family due to the South Korean rebuilding effort, but they proceeded to have six children (four girls and two boys) over the next 17 years, in addition to raising a stepson.  In February 1981, Chon B. Han also died, but all her daughters had departed the home and she continued to raise her two sons.  Three of her daughters had married American service members and they were able to sponsor her and the sons and bring them to America in 1984.  With the help of one of her daughters, she and the boys resided in Colorado Springs, CO.  Myo worked until the early 1990’s, when a work mishap left her disabled.  She lived in Colorado Springs until the summer of 2009 when her oldest daughter moved her to Huntsville for health reasons.

Myo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She became a Christian while visiting her daughter and son-in-law in Germany in 1992.  She tried her best to remain active in church activities.  She had an extreme love of gardening, which she did until her health took an extreme decline.

Myo will be greatly missed by her children, stepson Young Su, Seoul, Korea, Chin Su (Thomas B. Gibson), Huntsville, AL, Chong Su (Chris Rivers), Beaverton, OR, Kyong Su, Seoul, South Korea, Hye Su (Dennis Glasser), Huntsville, AL, Kon Su (Myeong), Colorado Springs, CO, and Yun Su (Jian), Colorado Springs, CO; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Myo was preceded in death by her husbands.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to Korean Assembly of God Church; 2904 Pike Ave., Huntsville, AL.  35810.
