MUSCLE SHOALS-A Muscle Shoals High School student was arrested on Tuesday after “threatening messages were made toward some of his friends and against the school were made this according to school officials and the MSPD resource officer.

Below we have press releases from Muscle Shoals City School Superintendent Chad Holden and the Muscle Shoals Police Department:

“Earlier today (May 9, 2023), high school administrators were made aware that a student had allegedly made threatening comments toward his friends and Muscle Shoals High School. The threatening comments were apparently made to other students over the past several weeks but just reported today.
Upon learning of these allegations, administrators quickly detained the student and questioned him. Muscle Shoals Police Department and juvenile authorities were notified, and the student has now been arrested.
At no time today was there an active threat to the safety of students and staff at Muscle Shoals High School, and no lockdown occurred. However, the nature of the threatening comments about violence toward students and the school were concerning enough to involve juvenile authorities.
As always, safety is a top priority for the Muscle Shoals City Schools. Threats made against the school are always taken seriously and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. We appreciate the continued support of the Muscle Shoals Police Department in keeping us safe.”
Sincerely,
Chad Holden
Superintendent
