Funeral service for Murel Sheats Royer, 85, of Decatur will be Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Sherry Harris officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Royer, who died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Riverside Senior Living, was born June 13, 1927, in Decatur to John B. Sheats and Grace Napps Sheats. She was a homemaker, a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ramon T. Royer; two brothers, John P. Sheats and Marel Sheats; one sister, Anna Cloyd; and infant son, Stanley Royer.
Survivors include one son, Stephen W. Royer (Linda); one daughter, Laura Beth Quarles (Bill); one sister, Vivian Stone; and five grandchildren, Lori Royer, Tim Royer, Stan Royer, Matt Quarles and Paul Quarles.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church or Meals on Wheels.
